في دراستنا للفلسفة الإسلامية حاولنا دائماً الإجابة على السؤال التالي، هل استطاعت الفلسفة الإسلامية في عصر إزدهارها الممتد من القرن الثالث الهجري إلى القرن السادس الهجري أن تقدم من خلال كبار فلاسفتها في المشرق والمغرب شيئاً جديداً يعبر عن خصوصيتها، وتتجاوز به الفلسفة اليونانية، وخاصة منها الفلسفة التي كان لها أكبر الأثر على الفلاسفة المسلمين؟ واقصد بها فلسفة أرسطو وأفلاطون!!؟...
لم تقدم لنا الدراسات التي كتبت عن الفلسفة الإسلامية - رغم أهميتها - إجابة مقنعة، فما قدمه الكندي والفارابي وابن سينا وابن رشد وغيرهم من فلاسفة المسلمين لم يكن إلا فلسفة يونانية اعيد صياغتها بقالب إسلامي جديد، وما سمي بعصر إزدهار الفلسفة الإسلامية لم يكن كذلك، وهذا ما عبر عنه أصدق تعبير الفيلسوف والمتصوف الشهير ابن سبعين، وذلك من خلال تقييمه النقدي لفلسفة الفارابي وابن سينا والغزالي وابن الصائغ والسهروردي وابن رشد وفخر الدين الرازي، وكان نقد ابن سبعين هذا، أول محاولة نقدية جادة للفلسفة الإسلامية، ولأهمية هذا التقييم النقدي تم تقديم هذا البحث الذي نضعه بين يديكم.
