إن البحث في موضوع البعث ولبنان لا يتم إلا من خلال البحث في تاريخ نشوء الحزب، وبشكل موجز، ومن ثم الإنتقال إلى محور آخر يتعلق بصلب الموضوع، وهو البعث ولبنان، أو الأصح حزب البعث العربي الإشتراكي في لبنان.
في ضوء هذه الرؤية قسمنا البحث إلى المحاور التالية: أولاً: نشوء حزب البعث العربي الإشتراكي، ثانياً: البناء العقائدي لحزب البعث العربي الإشتراكي، ثالثاً: البناء التنظيمي للحزب، رابعاً: تأسيس الحزب في لبنان، خامساً: دور الحزب في لبنان: 1-الصعيد السياسي القومي والقطري، 2-دور الحزب في الكفاح المسلح - المقاومة الوطنية اللبنانية، 3-الصعيد النضالي الإجتماعي والتربوي، سادساً: رؤية الحزب الحالية.
لم تولد نظرية حزب البعث ولادة نظرية متكاملة، بل تطورت في إطار الممارسة النضالية للحزب في مختلف الساحات العربيَّة. وفي إطار فهم جدليَّة التاريخ حدد مؤسس البعث، ميشال عفلق، ذلك بمقولته المشهورة: "إن حركة البعث حزبٌ يناضل في إطار التاريخ المستمر للأمة العربيَّة".
وبهذا يمكننا فهم المقولة الأولى أن نظرية الحزب ولدت منذ مرحلة التأسيس (7 نيسان 1947)، والمتمثلة بأهدافه في الوحدة والحريَّة والاشتراكيَّة، لكنها تطورت وتبلورت أكثر في حركة الحزب النضالية في المستويين الشعبي والرسمي؛ ولا سيّما في البعد الاشتراكي.
إنَّ فرع البعث في لبنان يستحق التأريخ لاسيّما أنَّ حزباً قدَّم ما يزيد على أربعماية شهيد ومئات الجرحى، ونفّذ أكثر من ثمانماية عملية قتالية ضد العدو الصهيوني، يستحق المزيد من عناء البحث والدراسة. فصدور الجزء الأول من تاريخ هذا الحزب هو باكورة ومقدمة لصدور الجزء الثاني إذا استطعنا تطويع الزمن.
