ولد أحمد شفيق بهجت في 15 نوفمبر 1932 بالقاهرة، وتوفى 11 ديسمبر 2011متزوج وله ابنان, حصل على ليسانس حقوق من جامعة القاهرة.
كاتب صحفي عمل صحفيًا بجريدة أخبار اليوم (1955)، ومجلة صباح الخير (1957)، وجريدة الأهرام (1958) ثم رئيس مجلس الإدارة ورئيس تحرير مجلة الإذاعة والتليفزيون (1976)..
ونائب رئيس التحرير للشئون الفنية بجريدة الأهرام منذ (1982) يكتب عمود "صندوق الدنيا" بجريدة الأهرام.
عضو نقابة الصحفيين وله أكثر من عشرين مؤلفًا دينيًا وأدبيًا، منها: أنبياء الله، بحار الحب عند الصوفية، مذكرات صائم، مذكرات زوج، أحسن القصص، الطريق إلى الله، قميص يوسف، وغيرها.
له برنامج إذاعي يومي بعنوان: كلمتين وبس

بديع الزمان سعيد النورسى شكل الرسائل ليعبربه عن أفكاره وتأملاته وسبحاته فى معانى الآيات القرآنية، وبهذا الاختيار ضمن أن تظل الرسائل موضع اهتمام الناس واحتفالهم، طالما أنهم تنبههم إلى الخطر، وترسم لهم طريق السلامة، والحق أن النورسى كان نسيجا متفرداً، وكان صاحب شخصية متعددة الجوانب، فهو جندى مجاهد، وهو رجل يغوص فى أعماق اتلأشياء ويتأمل إعجاز الخالق فيها، وهوصوفى إذا حضر الصوفية، وهو مقاتل ومجاهد إذا حضرت الجيوش، وهو قائد الحرب إذا ادلهمت المواقف..
وهذا الكتاب هو محاولة للأقتراب من النورسى، وقد حرصت فيه على تقديم النورسى خلال مقارنته ببعض الصوفية الكبار.. مثل جلال الدين الرومى، ومحمد بن عبد الجبار النفرى العراقى،والتوحيدى، لست أزعم أن الكتاب دراسة نقدية، وإنما هو رحلة فى عالم النورسى، وتأملات فى فكره وجهاده، ومحاولة لبيان قيمته فى عصر توشك الأمم أن تتداعى علينا كما تتداعى الأكلة إلى قصعتهم.
