القراءة لم تعد مجرد (متعة أو تسلية) بل تخطت ذلك لتصبح قراءة جادة فاحصة واعية، تهتم بالنقد والمقارنة وتحليل المقروء، وليس أقدر على قراءة كهذه من المثقف الذي استقرت صورته في الذاكرة الجمعية على أنّه ذلك الكائن المغاير الذي حاز نصيباً وافراً في مختلف الفنون، وسَمَتْ ذائقتُه إلى تخوم الإبداع الأدبي، وارتقت لغته إلى سماء الفصحى، وطوَّفَ في فضاءات الثقافة والأدب والفكر.
صورة المثقف تشكلت تحت تأثير الإعجاب به - لغةً وذائقةً وفكراً وتوجُّهاً وسلوكاً - وعلى ذلك تشكلت صورته وفق منظومة النخبة المثقفة (الأنتلجنسيا)، فغدت هدفاً يتسابق عليه المفتونون بعوالم الثقافة والأدب والفكر.
ما حصل بعد ذلك هو أن هذه الصورة لم تَدم طويلاً؛ حينما لم يستطع المثقف بكل أدواته المعرفية، ووسائطه الإعلامية أن يُطيل عمرها الإفتراضي؛ ذلك أنه لم يستمسك بقيم الثقافة الأصيلة ويعمل بمقتضياتها، وسار في ركاب الثقافة الشعبوية الغالبة، متتبعاً مساقط الضوء.
ولذا تأتي القراءة الفاحصة لبعض جدليات المشهد الثقافي العربي؛ لتدفعنا إلى الأمام، وتفكك مغاليق الوعي، وتطرح تساؤلات قلقة، وتشتغل على إشكاليات متنوعة (ثقافية، جيوثقافية، فكرية، فلسفية..)؛ استنهاضاً للحراك الفكري، وإسهاماً في خلخلة بعض المفاهيم القارَّة في الذهنية العربية، وهو ما حاول هذا الكتاب الإشتغال عليه.
