هذا الكتاب "المدخل الجامع في أصول النحّو"، مثلما هو كذلك في نظريته، والمرادُ منه أن يكون جامعاً بينهما مثلما هو جامع لكل منهما دونما شطط في القول.
كما أن المقصد الأسمى والغاية القصوى منه أن يكون جامعاً غير مانع ومدخلاً سهلاً يسيراً على المتعلم الطالب فضلاً عن كونه كذلك على المتعلمّ العالم.
إنّه بهذا أو ذاك وسيلة المبتدئ، وغاية المنتهي، ولي في فصوله ومباحثه بني الأوّلين السّابقين أسوة من حيث مناهج البحث والتأليف والتصنيف، إنّما أحبّ أن أنتظم في سلك "الجليل بن أحمد الغراهيدي" فأتمثل بقوله - كما رواه ابن يعيش في شرحه على مفصّل الزمخشري- واللفظ له: من الأبواب ما لو شئنا أن نشرحه حتى يستوعب فيه القوي والضعيف لفعلنا، ولكن يجبُ أن يكون للعالم مزية بعدنَا.
مادة كتابنا من ديوان التراث المتجدّد، ومن ديوان الحداثة المتقادمة، لما بين القديم والجديد من مناسبة (تناسب)، وإذن ليس بدعاً تعليق الماضي بالحاضر والعكس كذلك، وتعليق مناهج العلوم (ومسائلها) بعضها بسبب من بعض، وتعليّق النظرية بأصولها، وربط الأصول بنظريتها (أو بنظراتها) النحوية العربية مني سياقاتها من حيث الوصف مع التحليل.
إنّ نظرية العلم ناشئة بعد تمام العلم، كما أن أصوله التي يصدر عنها حادثة بعد إكتماله، ولا يُتصور عقلاً ونقلاً بناء علم من العلوم النظرية والعلمية العملية من غير نظراتٍ عقلية كامنة، ومن غير تصورات ذهنية ضمنية.
