ديل كارينجي (بالإنجليزية: Dale Carnegie)؛ (24 نوفمبر 1888 بالقرب من ميزوري - 1 نوفمبر 1955 في فوريست هيلز، نيويورك) كان مؤلف أمريكي ومطور الدروس المشهورة في تحسين الذات ومدير معهد كارنيجي للعلاقات الإنسانية ولد عام 1888 وتوفي عام 1955، بعد أن أصيب بسرطان الدم من نوع لمفومة هودجكين نشـأ ديـل كـارنيجى في أسـرة فـقيرة، وكان الابن الثاني لكـل من جيمس وليم كـارنيجى وأمـاندا إليزابيث هاربيسون منذ عام 1912 وديل كارنجي يعقد الدورات التدريبية لرجال الأعمال والمهنيين في نيويورك وكانت هذه الدورات تتكلم عن الخطاب العام فقط من أهم مؤلفاته كتاب "دع القلق وابدأ الحياة" How to Stop worrying and Start Living وقـد تُرجم إلى عـدة لٌغـات وانتشر بشكل واسع في العالم العربي والإسلامي.
نشر كتاب "كيف تؤثر على الآخرين وتكسب الأصدقاء" للمرة الأولى عام 1973 في طبعة لم تتجاوز الخمسة آلاف نسخة.
وكان كارنجي دائما يقول إنه من الأسهل أن تجمع مليون دولار من أن تضع عبارة باللغة الإنجليزية.
تأثر به مجموعة كبيرة من الكتّاب العرب والمسلمين وانتشرت كتب بعده مستوحاة من الفكر الغربي في تطوير الذات ولكن بقالب إسلامي مثل: كتـاب جدد حياتك للشيخ محمد الغزالي.
كتـاب لاتحزن للداعية عائض القرني.
كتـاب استمتع بحياتك للشيخ محمد العريفي.

هذا الكتاب من سير العظماء اتبع كارنيجي في تأليفه طريقة فريدة، فكان يكلف كل واحد من مساعديه والذين يعدون بالعشرات، بأن يطالع كل ما كتب عن الشخصية التي يكتب عنها من كتب ومجلدات بجميع اللغات ثم يدون له في صفحات معدودة أهم ما أجمعت عليه المصادر من حقائق تاريخية عنها.
ومن هذا التقرير يصوغ كارنيجي سيرة الشخصية التي يكتب عنها، بأسلوبه الشائق، وهكذا تستطيع أن توقن أن الصفحات القليلة التي يتضمنها هذا الكتاب عن كل شخصية من المترجم لهم، هي زبدة عشرات الكتب والمجلدات!.
هذا بالإضافة إلى بعض الشخصيات التي قابلها كارنيجي بنفسه، وتحدث معها، وأضاء من شخصيتها جوانب لا يعرف عنها الجمهور شيئًا، وكان الهدف من كل هذا إبراز الخطوط الهامة في حياة كل شخصية كي نتعلم منها.
