علي بن الحسن بن أبي بكر بن الحسن ابن وهاس الخزرجي الزبيدي، أبو الحسن موفق الدين: مؤرخ، بحاثة، من أهل ربيد في اليمن. عاش نيفا وسبعين سنة.
من كتبه «الكفاية والإعلام فيمن ولي اليمن وسكنها من الإسلام - خ» و «طراز أعلام الزمن في طبقات أعيان اليمن - خ» و «العسجد المسبوك في تاريخ الإسلام وطبقات الملوك - خ» مجلد واحد منه، و «العقود اللؤلؤية في تاريخ الدولة الرسولية - ط» جزآن، و «العقد الفاخر الحسن في طبقات أكابر اليمن» و «مرآة الزمن في تاريخ زبيد وعدن» و «ديوان شعره»

Book Description
"طراز أعلام الزمن في طبقات أعيان اليمن" واحد من الكتب التي استوعبت أهم كتابين في تراجم أهل اليمن، وهما: "طبقات فقهاء اليمن" و"السلوك في طبقات العلماء والملوك". بل وأضاف إليهما الكثير من التراجم التي خلا الكتابان منهما؛ مستدركاً عليهما، ومضيفاً لمن جاء بعدهما.
ولقد مهَّد لكتابه هذا بمقدمة تاريخية عامة، غير مختصة ببلاد اليمن، بل جاء الحديث فيها عن الخطوط العريضة في هذا الفن.ثم شرع في سرد ما طُلِبَ منه؛ إذ قال المؤلف مبيناً السبب الرئيس لتصديه لتأليف "الطراز": فإن جماعة من إخواني سألوني أن أجمع لهم كتاباً مختصراً جامعاً محرراً، يحتوي على طبقات علماء اليمن وصلحائهم، وأزمان ملوكها وأكابرها وكبرائها.
فكان هذا الكتاب التاريخي جامعاً لما تفرق في غيره، ولا سيما أولئك الذين عاصرهم أو قربوا من عصره، حتى يكاد ينفرد بجملة من التراجم التي لم يشاركه فيها غيره من الكتب المشابهة له. وهذا ما يجعل له أهمية قصوى، ولا سيما وأن علماء اليمن بصورة عامة لم تحظَ سيرهم وأخبارهم بالعناية التامة.ش
