ها نحن نعود مرة أخرة لعلم اللغة النفسى، ذلك الموضوع الذى عشقه مؤلفنا الفاضل، بعد كتابنا السابق (النمو اللغوى عند الطفل).
فعملية دراسة والمفاهيم من أصعب الدراسات اللغوية، لأنها تدرس متغيراً دائم التغير، وهو المعنى الذى يختلف حوله كثيراً من أبناء اللغة الواحدة، والمفاهيم دائمة التطور، فإذا كان المقصود بالدراسة هم أطفال صغار فى بداية اكتسابهم للغة، وعلمهم بمنطقها وخفاياها فالأمر أصعب، فيحتاج إلى متابعة ومعاينة عن كثب هؤلاء الأطفال، وتدوين كل ما يصدر عنهم من قول أو فعل مرتبط أو مقترن بقول، وتحليل ذلك كله فى إطار علوم (النفس واللغة والتربية) لمعرفة آليات اكتساب اللغة بمعانيها وما تحمله من مفاهيم. لقد كثرت الدراسات والنظرية النفسية والتربوية التى تمت حول هذا الموضوع، ولكنها فى مجملها قامت على آراء علماء أجلاء من مختلف بلاد العالم، كان آشهرهم بياجيه، والعالم الروسى ليفى فيجوتسكى وشترون وغيرهم، أقاموا نظرياتهم ودراساتهم على أطفال فى بيئتهم ومجتمعهم، الذى يختلف عن مجتمعنا وثقافتنا، ومن ثم تختلف اللغة التى يكتسبها الطفل، لذا ظهرت الحاجة إلى دراسة جديدة تخص الطفل المصرى كإبن لهذه البيئة المصرية بكل خصائصها الثقافية واللغوية التى ستنعكس على عملية اكتسابه للغة، إنها لغته الأم.
إن الهدف من هذه الدراسة، بيان كيفية نمو الدلالة وتكوين المفاهيم لدى تلاميذ الإبتدائى ليس من خلال النظريات والآراء اللغوية والنفسية فحسب، ولكن من خلال الجمع بينهما فى إطار الدراسة التطبيقية الميدانية، لذا حاول مؤلفنا التعايش مع التلاميذ بصورة شبه يومية، واختار تلاميذ الإبتدائى، لأنهم حديثو عهد المدرسة، فقد جاءوا من البيت بثقافتهم وعاداتهم ولغتهم الأم التى لم يتحرروا منها بعد.
