قد كان يختلج في صدري سابقاً اختصار حاشية الشيخ حسن المداغي لطولها حتي سمعت من شيخنا العلامة الشيخ عطية الأجهوري أنه يحب ذلك وأنه سأل مؤلها عنه فلم يجبه، فكان ذلك محركاً لما عندي فاختصرتها وضممت إلي ذلك ما تلقيته عن شيخنا المذكور وعن شيخنا أوحد زمانه، الذي لم تسمح الأعصار بمثاله، الأستاذ لأكبر الشيخ محمد بن سالم الحفناوي، وبعضها مما سمح به الذهن الفاتر، والعقل القاصر، ثم لما وصلت قريباً من كتاب الزكاة وجدت الشيخ قد تقاصر عن مراجعة مواد المذاهب في بعض المواضع، واتكل علي ما يجده مكتوباً في حواشي الكتاب فأحببت أن أتمم الفائدة وجمعت من المنهج وحواشيه وشرح العلامة الرملي علي المنهاج.
فجاءت بحمد الله حاشية لم يسبق علي الكتاب مثلها، ولم ينسج ناسج علي منوالها، نسأله سبحانه أن يعيننا علي إكمالها، وييسر الأسباب في افتتاحها واحتتامها.
