قتل الجنرال أوفقير لأنه –وفق الرواية الرسمية- اعتبر الرأس المدبر لانقلاب ضد ملك المغرب، الحسن الثاني.
هكذا بدأت رحلة العذاب لفاطمة أوفقير وأولادها. التي انتقلت من حياة البلاط إلى رحلة طويلة من العذاب والألم في "حدائق الملك" وهو الاسم الذي أطلق في المغرب على تلك السجون الرهيبة المرعبة التي كان يلقى فيها المعارضون.
تكتب فاطمة أوفقير قصتها بجرأة مدهشة، فلا تخجل من الحديث عن علاقتها الغرامية، رغم أن زوجها هو رجل المملكة القوي، وزير الداخلية، الشخصية المهابة: الجنرال أوفقير.
