يقدم هذا الكتاب عدداً من البحوث قامت للكشف عن العلاقة بين الأبعاد السيكولوجية المختلفة للقيادة وبين عدد من سمات الشخصية وفي نشر هذه البحوث تيسير للقارئ في أن يجد بين يديه عدداً من البحوث يصعب حصوله عليها، لتعدد أماكن نشرها وتبيان تواريخها. كذلك فإن نشرها على هذا الصورة أمر يتيح الباحث فرصه المقارنة بين نتائجها والغوص في إيحاءاتها، والتي تفتح الطريق لمزيد من الدراسة والتعمق.
وبحوث القيادة اعتمدت على مقياس المكانة السوسيومترية الذي وضعه المؤلف، والذي نشرت فكرته من المقياس الذي وضعه خلال إعداده لرسالته الماجستير في علم النفس بين عامي 1963-1967، أما بحوث الشخصية فقد اعتمدت على المقياس الإكلينيكى الذاتي لتقييم القابلية للاستثارة الذي نقله المؤلف إلى اللغة العربية وحاول أن يقيم على نتائجه مقارنات بين الأبنية عبر حدود الجنس وعبر الحدود الحضارية ليكشف النقاب عن إمكانات استخدامه في المجال الإكلينيكى وغيره من مجالات علم النفس.
