إن الخطوة الأولى التى يحاول الطفل أن يخطوها على طريق تعلم الكتابة بالقلم هى أصعب الخطوات وأهمها فى حياته التعليمية.
فهو فى هذه السن المبكرة لا يستطيع أن يحرك القلم بالشكل المناسب، كما أن تحكمه فى توجيه يده تنقصه الدقة، ويوم أن يتمكن الطفل من السير على نقاط حرف معين دون الخروج بعيداً هنا وهناك فإنه يكون قد عرف الطريق الصحيح لكتابه الحروف، ومن ثم فإنه سوف يأخذ طريقه إلى الكتابة بطلاقة بعد ذلك.
وفى هذا الكتاب يقدم لنا الخطاط الموهوب الأستاذ / مهدى السيد مجموعة من نماذج الحروف المتصلة والمنفصلة موضوعه فى مجموعات متشابهه بالنسبة إلى شكل الحرف حتى يمكن للطفل أن يتعرف إليها ويكون تحريك أصابعه بنفس الطريقة خلال المجموعة الواحدة. ومن خلال تعلم الطفل كيفية كتابة الحرف ودمجة فى كلمة يستطيع كتابة مجموعة من الكلمات والجمل. ويستمر هكذا عن طريق إضافة بعض الكلمات التى تملى عليه إلى أن يتقن الكتابة إتقاناً كاملاً.
وقد أحتوى الكتاب على بعض الصور لمسميات موجودة يعرفها الطفل جيداً حتى يربط بين النطق وبين الكلمة المكتوبة، وهو باب من أبواب تعليم القراءة.
