قال علي بن الشاه الفارسي : إن الإسكندر ذا القرنين الرومي غزا كل الملوك الذين كانوا في ناحية المغرب، وعندما انتهى منهم اتجه نحو الشرق يريد ملوكه من الفرس وغيرهم، حتى ظهر عليهم، وقهر، وتغلب على كل من حاربه، وتوجّه نحو الصين، فبدأ في طريقه بملك الهند. وكان للهند ملك ذو سطوة يقال له "فورك"، فاشتبك الجمعان، وتبارز القائدان، وكانت الغلبة للإسكندر، فاستخلف على الهند أحد رجاله. واتجه الإسكندر نحو غايته… ولمّا يعد. أبى الشعب الهندي أن يملك عليه رجل ليس من أهل دينه… فخلعوا الملك الذي استخلفه الإسكندر، وولّوا عليهم رجلاً منهم يقال له "دبشليم"، ولما استوثق الأمر لدبشليم هذا، طغى، وبغى، وتكبّر، وتجبر، وساد الناسَ بالظلمِ… واستمر على هذه الحال برهة من الزمن.
