إن التكامل المعرفي لا يقف عند حد معين وكأنه بوابة مفتوحة تستقبل كل فكرة أو رأي أو نظرية تزيد من التطور المعرفي خدمتا الإنسانية ومنها العلوم النفسية والتربوية والتي تُعد ركناً أساسياً في بناء شخصية الفرد وتطبيع سلوكه عند تفاعله مع مواقف إجتماعية أو مهنية، فلا أحد ينكر دور التعليم في بناء الإنسان كأصغر وحدة بناء المجتمع ولا يُنكر دور البحوث العلمية والتطبيقية والطبية في الحفاظ على إنسانية الإنسان ومن ثم المجتمع وهذا التكامل حفز الباحث والمختصين أن يستقصوا كل ما يزيد ويسرع تكامل المعرفة وبالمقابل قد تتولد مشكلات أخرى تتطلب أفكار جديدة، وإذا ما حددنا هذه المقدمة بالتحليل الإحصائي statistical analysis للبيانات المستخدمة في البحوث المختلفة في حاجة إلى حلول بديلة للمشكلات التي تواجه تفسير النتائج، وهذا هو الهدف الرئيس لمؤشر إحصائي أخذ مساحة واسعة من إهتمام الباحثين والمختصين وقد أجد نفسي من هؤلاء المختصين في التحليل الإحصائي أن أرتب أفكار وأسس ومتطلبات هذا المؤشر والذي يطلق عليه حجم الأثر EFFECT SIZE فقد تنوعت أدبياته والبحوث التي اهتمت به كثيراً ويعده البعض مكملاً للدلالة الإحصائية Statistical Significance ومن خلال إطلاعاتي على هذه الأدبيات وجدت اليسير جداً حول حجم الأثر وإستخدامه في البحوث والدراسات الفردية ورسائل الماجستير وأطاريح الدكتوراه المستخدمة البحوث التجريبية لا يصل إلى المستوى المقبول بثقافتنا العربية، بينما نجد العكس تماماً في الثقافة الأجنبية، فهناك المئات من المقالات والدراسات فصلت جزيئات حجم الأثر وما يتعلق من مفاهيم إحصائية أو منهجية بحثية تعتمد عليه مثل التحليل البعدي Meta- Analysis.
