لقد برع كاتب هذه الرواية فى مزج الواقع المرير بالأساطير المحلية، التي تتحدث عن أجيال من "نجع السلوعة" كانت لهم أم سلعوة، ومازالت الأم، التي صارت جدة، تتحكم في أحفادها، فلا يتم لهم شيء إلا بإرادتها، وعلى شاكلة ما اكنت تعيش هي ، وكأنه اختيار قديم علينا أن نؤديه، وكأنه التاريخ لابد أن يكرر نفسه.
