مهنة الطب.. مهنة ذات قدسية خاصة لما الرسالتها من سمو وعلاقة شديدة بحياة الأنسان الذى هو أسمى المخلوقات، ولكن تلك القدسية فقدت كثيراً فى أيامنا الحاضرة حين تكاتفت العديد من العوامل الأخلاقية والإقتصادية والإجتماعية على هذه المهنة وممارسيها. فسمعنا عن مرض ذهبوا ضحايا والأخطاء الطبية.. ونظراً لزيادتها يوماً بعد أخر تناولها الدكتور (هشام عبد الحميد) فى كتابه هذا.. الأخطاء الطبية وقد ألم بجوانب الموضوع التى إمتدت إلى العديد من الجهات.. فنجد الجانب الفنى والعلمى ونحد الجانب القانوني ونجد الجانب الأخلاقى وكذلك تناولها من جانب المريض وما تراتب فى حياته من تلك الأخطاء. وجاء الكتاب فى سمعة فصول نحمل كل منها مسئولية أحد الجوانب فكان الأول فى أخلاقيات مهنة الطب وواجباتها، الثانى فى التقارير الطبية ومكوناتها التى يجب مراعاتها لمراعاة الدقة من الجانب الفنى فيها، الثالث تناول إقرار إذن رضا المريض على العلاج، الرابع كان فى دعاوى المسئولية الطبية وكذلك التعويض والخطأ الطبى، أما الخامش فكان فى إفشاء السر الطبى والجرائم الطبية الأخرى على أختلافها ويبين فى الفصل السادس دور الطب الشرعي فى تحديد المسئولية وأخيراً الفصل السابع عن تاثير الأخطاء الطبية على المرض وعائلاتهم. ومن جاء كل هذا مدعماً بالنماذج والأمثلة والصور الموضحة والمساعدة للأطباء.
