شاب من صيدا من عائلة مسلمة شيعيّة، ينال دكتوراه في الفلسفة في الأربعينات من القرن الماضي (وفيما بعد الدكتوراه في الأدب الفارسي)، ثم يندفع بكل ما أوتي من قوّة لخدمة الفئات المحرومة في مدينته ومعايشة الفقراء، فيقال أنه أصيب بمسّ في عقله!..
هو عفيف عسيران (1919 - 1988)، الذي أصبح لاحقاً الأب عفيف عسيران، وأنشأ مؤسّسة لرعاية وتربية الفتيان المشرّدين والحرومين مكرّساً لهم حياته وجهوده.
ما عساه هذا الإنسان ليقول لنا اليوم بعد أكثر من ربع قرن على رحيله في أسئلة الحياة الكبرى؟ كتب: "كل وجدان طلعة إلى الحق"، فأيّ حقّ ترشدنا إليه سرته ويكشفه لنا فكره؟
