لقد تراكمت، بعد السلب والنهب، فوائض نفطية هائلة لم توجه للتنمية الاقتصادية في قطاعات إنتاجه. والآن تجد الكويت نفسها، في نهاية المطاف، لا تملك سوى أوراق مالية حرقتها الحروب والأزمات والفساد. وتأتي الأزمة الراهنة للنظام الرأسمالي لتصفى البقية الباقية من الريوع النفطية.
ومسيرة الكويت هذه نموضج للمماليك الخليجية النفطية الأخرى التي خلفت اقتصاديات طفيلية ريعية. وعلاقات تبعية خدمية للاقتصاديات الغربية وبالذات الولايات المتحدة. وتوابع ومحميات تحت مظلة أمريكا وحلف الأطلسي. ومصيراً مظلماً للأجيال القادمة والقائمة أيضاً.
هذا هو الخيار الرأسمالي الرجعي لشعوبنا فهل ستفرض هذه الشعوب خيارها الخاص. إن هذا الكتاب يرسم صورة الحاضر. ومعالم في الطريق لمستقبل أفضل.
