يعتبر مقرر الترموديناميك وإنتقال الحرارة أساسياً لطلاب هندسة التصميم الميكانيكي كونه يتصل ببناء مهندس قادر على فهم العمليات الحرارية الجارية في الآلات الحرارية على إختلاف أنواعها والتي ستكون على تماس مباشر في حياته العملية المستقبلية؛ أضف إلى أن هذا المقرر ضروري لطلاب هذا الإختصاص لفهم المقررات اللاحقة ذات الصلة خلال دراستهم الجامعية.
لهذا رأيت عند قيامي بتأليف هذا الكتاب المؤلف من جزأين بحسب الخطة الدراسية في قسم التصميم الميكانيكي بجامعة دمشق أن ألحظ المفردات التي تهم الطالب على مقاعد الدراسة من جهة وأن تساعد المهندس المتخرج قدر الإمكان من جهة أخرى عند مواجهته للمشاكل الهندسية.
وحرصاً مني أن تكون الفائدة من هذا الكتاب جمة أرفقت خلال كل فصل من فصوله السبعة وبعد كل فقرة مجموعة كبيرة من الأمثلة التي تساعد الطالب على إستيعاب أسرع للفكرة المطروحة وحتى تكون الفائدة أكبر أرفقت كل بحث في نهايته بمجموعة من المسائل مرفقة بأجوبتها حتى يتدرب الطالب بمفرده ويكون إلمامه أعم.
خصصت في الجزء الأول فصل مستقل عن الواحدات لما لهذا الموضوع من أهمية كبيرة في حياتنا اليومية وخصوصاً المهندسين الذين سيقومون بالعمل في فروع الصناعة المختلفة وخاصة تلك التي لها علاقة بالهندسة الحرارية (محطات الطاقة - محطات التبريد - مولدات البخار...) ثم سلطت الضوء على أسس علم الترموديناميك الهندسي وأعطيت توضيحاً لماهية جسم التشغيل مع إبراز البارامترات الأساسية له ومن ثم عرضت القوانين التي يعتمد عليها هذا العلم وخصوصاً قانوناً الترموديناميك الأول والثاني، انتقلت بعدها إلى أولى التطبيقات المعتمدة على هذا العلم وشرحت مبدأ عمل محركات الإحتراق الداخلي بأنواعها المختلفة وأنهيت الجزء الأول بإعطاء صورة مبسطة للآلة العنفية الغازية وتطرقت إلى المحركات الصاروخية.
إن قراءة هذا الكتاب بمحتوياته لا يعني ألممنا بكل جوانب الترموديناميك فهو مع غيره من الكتب سواء من جامعاتنا أو خارجها بشكل مدخلاً مبسطاً لفهم الظواهر الترموديناميكية الحاصلة في الآلات الحرارية.
أرجو أن أكون في عملي المتواضع هذا وبحسب خبرتي التدريسية المتواصلة لهذا المقرر قد وفقت في توصيل الأفكار والمعلومات المطلوبة لمهندسي المستقبل.
