هذا الكتاب يستهدف طلبة البكالوريوس والماجستير والباحثين ومن يستعد لإجراء امتحان شامل في مرحلة الدكتوراه على حدٍّ سواء، فلعلّه يكون إضافة قوية وداعماً لهم في الرياضيات والتخصصات الأخرى المرتبطة بها.
فمن يرغب في الحصول على مقدمة في تكامل ريمان ومتتاليات ومتسلسلات الدوال ونظرية القياس والتكامل بمفهوم لبيق سيجد مبتغاه، ومن يرغب في تعلّم أسس التحليل الرياضي بعمق فسيجد أيضاً مبتغاه.
يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة تاريخية في الباب الأول ثم يتناول تكامل ريمان في R و "R بما يسهّل عملية الإنتقال من مفهومي الطول على الفترات والمساحة تحت منحنى دالة إلى محتوى (قياس جوردان) على مجموعة قابلة لقياس جوردان وتكامل ريمان عليها، يتحول بعدها للحديث عن التكامل على السطوح والمانيفولدات.
وهذا يشجع الباحث على التعميم من مجموعة قابلة لقياس جوردان إلى مجموعة قابلة لقياس لبيق ومن قياس جوردان إلى قياس لبيق ومن تكامل ريمان إلى تكامل لبيق في الثلاثة أبواب: الرابع والخامس والسادس.
متتاليات ومتسلسلات الدوال تنفرد بدراسة واسعة وبنتائج حديثة تغطي حقبة امتدت لأكثر من مئة سنة خلال القرنين الماضيين بدءاً من أعمال أويلر وفوربير حول مسألة تقارب معاملات فوربير لدالة قابلة للتكامل.
البراهين معروضة هنا بمنهجية سلسة تهدف إلى غرس مفاهيم التحليل لدى القارئ إذا فهمها وحل بعض التمارين الموزعة بالمئات على جميع الفصول، وربما أنجز مشروعاً من ضمن مقترحات مشاريع التخرج المعطاة في المقدمة.
يحتوي الكتاب على خطة لدراسته وتدريسه لتسهّل على القارئ(ة) والأستاذ(ة) آلية التعامل مع الكتاب وتدريسه في عدد من المقررات.

عن المؤلف: عبد الرحمن بن سليمان الحسين، حصل على درجة البكالوريوس من جامعة الملك سعود بتقدير ممتاز مع مرتبة الشرف الأولى وعلى درجتي الماجستير والدكتوراه من جامعة واريك Warwick في المملكة المتحدة؛ عمل كأستاذ مساعد لدى جامعة الملك سعود ويعمل حالياً كأستاذ دكتور لدى قسم الرياضيات في جامعة القصيم، عضو الجمعية السعودية للعلوم الرياضية والجمعية الرياضية الأمريكية.
