يقول الدكتور زيعور في مقدمة كتابه بأن مرحلة بعد الناصرية جرحتنا نحن العرب في العمق، كما وتكدس الإحباط الحضاري والنكبات وتفاقم الآلام... فقد إنجرح الأمل بلإمكان تحقيق التوكيد النحاوي، وبالإقتدار على إشباع الحاجات المعنوية للحضارة، ولشتى الإنتماءات الجماعية، أي على إشباع الحاجة للشعور بالإنتماء إلى النّحن القومية المنيعة، أي القادرة على توفير الإستقلال والإطمئنان والأمن الغذائي كما السياسي والإستراتيجي والمستقبلاني. من هنا فإن ميدان هذا الكتاب هو حقول كما وأدوات علم النفس مع مستقبل الإنسان العربي، وصحته النفسية الحضارية. وذلك من خلال قراءة تكشف للتجربة العربية في التقدم والعقل والغلبية الإقتصادية، وفي التحقق والتوكيدية والخلاص (الفوزين)، عن إرادة إعادة صياغة للذات، وضبط للحقل، وطلب تجدد للعلم والفكر، وللمفاهيم والآلة. كما تكشف تلك القراءة أن تلك الإرادة ترافقت، بل أتت مؤسسة على وعينة ثم تجاوز الفشل والإنهزام أو التراجع والإختلال. من أجل ذلك عمد زيعور إلى إختيار الأصولانية كمثل للصورة المتعصبة عن الذات والآخر والعلاقة مع ثورات التكنولوجيا والصورة والبيولوجيا. وبرأيه لأن الخطاب الأصولي هو خطاب من الأمة وفيها "منا وفينا" وهو خطاب متصلب مرضي وممرض... ومحاولته هذه إنما تمثل تشخيصاً للإختلال الذي لا يمكن معالجته بالقتل والطرد، أو بالتهميش والإلغاء... أو بالقفز فوق المهدئ، والمسكن، والمذيب للعصاب، كما وأن اليسار اللاهوتي لا يزال يُلعن لمجرد أنه غير علماني، أو لأنه إيماتوي تخيلي ومعتقدي يرفض فصل الدين عن الدولة. ولكن يبقى أن الفهم النفسي الفلسفي كما النفسي الفلسفي للحضارة المحلية، ولدارها العالمية، منفعة معرفية وإثراء نفسي وتوظيف إيجابي في محاولة لتوصيف الداء ولوصف الدواء. وأخيراً فإن الهدف والغاية لهذا التحليل النفسي للشخصية العربية إنما لإعطاء صورة إيجابية نقدية عن الذات وعن حضارة الأمة، أو عن فكرها وأيديولجويتها وفلسفاتها، تترسخ وتعزز، على نحو إختماري متواظب المعقول وعلى نحو مباشر وعقلاني، بترسيخ وتعزيز إعادة الفهم أو المعنية للحارة والحضارات، لعلائقية الذات مع الآخرين الماهرين وغير الماهرين داخل الدار الكونية.
