Book Description
كتاب سيرُ الملوك لعبد الملك بن قريب الأصمعي (123- 216هـ / 740- 831م)، الذي يعد من الكتب النادرة في تاريخ الأمم الماضية قبل ميلاد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، حيث تناول الكتاب الفترة من بداية خلق البشرية، مروراً بخلق حواء، وأول فتنة حدثت في الأرض من قتل ابن آدم لأخيه، والحديث عن الأنبياء، إلى مولد بهرام جور، الذي ولد سنة 406م، وتوفي في سنة 438م، وكذلك مقتل يزدجرد بن بهرام جور سنة 438م، وهما من ملوك فارس، وهذه التواريخ كلُها قبل ميلاد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بقرن ونصف من الزمان تقريباً حيث وُلد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم سنة 571م.
وترجع أهمية هذا الكتاب الموسوعي إلى أنّه من المؤلفات التاريخية النادرة التي عثر عليها من التراث العربي، فقد ألفه الأصمعي في القرن الثاني أو الثالث الهجري، بأمر من الخليفة العباسي هارون الرّشيد، إذ قال الأصمعي في مطلع كتابه: "كان هارون الرشيد الإمام إذا نشط يُرسل إليّ: فكنتُ أحدثه بحديث الأمم السالفة والقرون الماضية، فبينما أنا أحدثه ذات ليلة، فقال: يا أصمعي أين الملوك وأبناء الملوك؟ قلتُ: يا أمير المؤمنين، مضوا لسبيلهم، فرفعُ يده إلى السماء، ثم قال: يا مفني الملوك ارحمني يوم تلحقني بهم".
