ويركز هذا الكتاب على أن وصف تأثيرات العولمة وتلك التأثيرات التى يمكن وصفها كقوة تأثير مجتمع على أخر, فبعض المجتمعات يمتد تأثير قوة إقتصادها على مجتمعات أخرى فى الوقت الحاضر, ويمتد التأثير كذلك على الفقر فى بعض الدول والعدالة فى توزيع الدخول التى تختلف من دولة لأخرى.
وعلى الجانب الأخر يوجد البعد السياسى الناجم عن العولمة كتأثير الدولة القومية كقوى فعلية وليست رمزية. ويهتم هذا الكتاب بوجهات النظر عن تأثير العولمة كقوى تؤثر على حياة الناس كعائد للعولمة, مما جعل الدولة القومية تأخذ مكانها وتلعب دوراً هاماً فى حياة الناس.
ونجد البعد الثقافى للعولمة يتمثل فى سرعة نقل الثقافات الغربية والأفكار والإتجاهات إلى كل دول العالم أثناء 500 سنة الماضية, حيث ثقافة الإمبريالية أو ثقافة الرأسمالية قوى مؤثرة على العالم, وفى الحقيقة من المتوقع ان تكون هناك ثقافة تجمع بين عناصر الثقافتين, وتوجد أمثلة على ذلك.
ويركز هذا الكتاب على تأثير العولمة على الرعاية الإنسانية سواء البطالة, وتوزيع الدخول, الفقر, التعليم, الصحة, البيئة, وكذلك الهجرة, والنوع, والجوانب المختلفة للحياة فى المجتمعات الصناعية المتقدمة والناكية, والساية الإجتماعية العالمية.
ونأمل أن يكون هذا الكتاب تصحيحاً لبعض الأفكار, ويقابل حاجات المهتمين بالجوانب الإجتماعية للعولمة وكذلك السياسة الإجتماعية فى مستوياتها القومية والعالمية.
