"إن طائرة الخطوط الحربية التركية التي كان من المقرر أن تغادر مطار القاهرة الدولي، القاهرة شرق-في الساعة 43،8 كانت لا تزال تقف على أرض المطار، جاهزة للحركة ولكن الأمر بالحركة لم يصدر لها بعد، وركابها ومعظمهم من بقايا السواح والمواطنين الغربيين .. كانوا جميعا يريدون الهرب من المدينة بسرعة.. وشوهد موظف المطار باللباس الرسمي يعطي إشارة الحركة للطائرة، وراح المؤشر يعطي الإشارة لقائد الطائرة التي تحركت على المدرج ثم انطلقت في الجو باتجاه الشمال.. وعاد الأميركي يسال جاره: ماذا هناك ؟ ما هذا؟ ونظر إليه الرجل ذو البدلة السوداء، ثم حول نظره إلى الجهة التي كان الأميركي يشير إليها وكان مطار القاهرة-غرب-العسكري، ومن فوق المطار شوهدت طائرتين تقصفان المطار وتزرعان فيه الخراب والدمار، واختفت الطائرتان أعقبتهما طائرتان آخران، وكان الرجل ذو البدلة السوداء ينظر إلى هذا المشهد كأنه لا علاقة له به ثم هز رأسه كمن يؤيد ما يجري، وعاد الأميركي يسأل بانفعال ما هذا ؟ ولم يرد الرجل ذو البذلة السوداء وإنما جذب مقعده وأرخاه إلى الخلف وتمدد عليه باسترخاء وبعيدا من تحتهم رمت الطائرات الأربعة سرعة في طريق عودتها بالاتجاه الشمالي الشرقي نحو بلد صغير ملاصق لشاطئ البحر".
هكذا تحطمت الطائرات عند الفجر، في هذا الكتاب ومن خلال أسلوب قصصي يكشف المؤلف عن خفايا حرب الأيام الستة (1967) والتي كانت بدايتها مع الهجوم المباغت على مطار القاهرة العسكري الذي كانت تجثهم على أرضه الطائرات العسكرية المعدية بكاملها، وعندما تحطمت الطائرات عند الفجر كان هناك انتصار إسرائيلي ولكن غادر، خطط له ونفذ من خلال عملية جاسوسية يكشف عنها المؤلف في هذا الكتاب…
