تحت عنوان "سليمان القانوني... سلطان الحريم والدماء" يرصد الدكتور أحمد راسم النفيس الوجه الآخر للدولة العثمانية، مثلما يرصد الوهم الأيديولوجي الذي عشّش في أذهان المسلمين، عن قوة الدولة ودفاعها عن الإسلام الحنيف، متغاضين عن الواقع الإجتماعي والسياسي الذي رزح تحته العرب لعقود طويلة.
يقول المؤلف في (المقدمة) التي يفتتح بها عمله هذا: "من وجهة نظرنا لا تختلف قراءة التاريخ الذي هو مجموعة من الوقائع المتسلسلة عن قراءة الواقع، فكلاهما يحتاج لرؤية وبصيرة تميز بين الخطأ والصواب والحق والباطل...".
ولأسباب عدة يشرحها المؤلف يبحث في أصل الأتراك العثمانيين وسلاطينهم ولا سيما سليمان القانوني من خلال الدور الذي لعبه الرجل في تاريخ السلطنة، مركزاً على الوجه السلبي للدولة العثمانية في غالبية نصوصه، فكان جريئاً في تشخيص المحنة من داخلها عندما تناول ناقداً ومحللاً الأسباب التي يستوجب بها أن تثار عند الحديث عن محاولة العثمانيين الجدد السيطرة على البلاد العربية من الناحية السياسية.
يقول المؤلف: "الآن يتكرر المشهد حيث يصطف البرابرة الجدد في تحالف مع صهاينة الغرب المسيحي في مواجهة محور المقاومة الذي لا يجد له نصيراً ولا حليفاً دولياً غير روسيا ومهاماً تبقى من نفوذ المسيحية الشرقية الذي ورثته الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية الروسية...".
ويخلص المؤلف إلى نتيجة مفادها "لم يكن للعثمانيين مشروع ثقافي ولا فكري أو حتى فقهي يبقى بعد رحيل عسكرهم وإغماد سيوفهم وتوقف عمليات القتل الجماعي...".
وفي مقابل هذا النموذج يتحدث المؤلف أيضاً عن نموذج آخر مختلف هو نموذج الدولة الفاطمية وحضارتها التي أقامتها في مصر، ويدل على ذلك برأيه أن هذه الحضارة "لا زالت آثارها المعمارية والروحية والأخلاقية سارية في دماء المصريين وروحهم..."، وأياً يكن موقف المؤلف، فإنه يُسجل له قدرته على تشخيص الوضع العربي والإسلامي في ظلّ حكم الأتراك والدفع بإتجاه صوغ مفاهيم وآخر قواعد جديدة لإدارة المشترك البشري سواء على مستوى الوطن أو العالم.
