عمل اللواء سراج الدين الروبى في جهاز الشرطة لمدة ثلاثون عاما وتخصص في أعمال الأمن العام “بحث جنائي ” أكتسب خبرة كبيرة في هذا المجال تولى من خلالها رئيس الأنتربول المصري ثم عضوا في اللجنة التنفيذية العليا لمنظمة الأنتربول العالمية في فرنسا وأنتخب نائبا لرئيس المنظمة ورئيسا للجنة التطوير الأستراتيجى للأنتربول لهذا القرن ثم مدعيا عاما عسكريا للشرطة المصرية حتى إحالته للتقاعد في 2001 .
مارس العمل في مجال الدفاع عن المواطنين والضباط في سائر المحاكم المصرية إلى جانب كونه محاضرا في العديد من الجهات .
وأخيرا تم تعيينه في منصب محافظ المنيا بدلا من اللواء سمير سلام استجابة لرغبة الاحزاب والقوى السياسية التى كانت ترفض بقاء سلام محافظا للمنيا .

هذا الكتاب يمثل التصور الحقيقى لفن الإيقاع الحركى لسيمونية العمل فى المباحث الجنائية من خلال حركتها الزئبقية بين شقوق جدران قاع المجتمع المصرى، فهو يقدم عدداً من أكثر جرائم القتل غموضآ فى فترة الثمانينيات، ويحلل الخطط المباحثية التى كشفت الغموض وحددت الجانى، وينتقل إلى الجانب الآخر الذى لا نراه فى ساحات المحاكم والنيابات، وهو تحديد العوامل والدوافع لارتكاب القتل، ودور بعض المجنى عليهم فى وضع خطط قتلهم والتوقيت والمكان وتحديد الآلة المستعملة.
