تختلف درجة التشويق فى القصص التى وقع عليها اختيارى، ولكنها كانت أكثرها تشويقا، وقد يجد غيرى -من كبار النقاد- أعمالا امتازت بكثافة الأسلوب وتراكم المشاعر والصور فى جمل مركبة، وقد يجد آخرون قصصا لها دلالات ايدويولوجية يفضلونها ويبحثون عن أهمية النص فى دلالته السياسية والاجتماعية، وليس فى التشويق -لكن كل هذا -بصراحة تامة- لم أتوقف عنده لأن القصة عندى فى المقام الأول حكاية أو حدوتة تشدنى إلى قراءتها. ومع ذلك تبينت بعد أن أكملت عملية الاختيار انها شملت أنواعا وأساليب متعددة. بينها القصة الأقرب الى الشعر، والقصة الأقرب إلى المقالة الصحفية الساخرة، والقصة التى لها حبكة، والقصة التى تعبر عن لحظة تنوير أو فهم. أو شعور خاص فى زمن معين ومكان معين.
والقصة التى تدخل بنا عالم الأحلام أو الكابوس، أو التيه أو المطاردة، فلا تخرج منه. وكذلك اختلفت اللغة واللهجات وتعددت، ولكنها جميعا شجعتنى على القراءة ولا شك أن مزاجى الشخصى كقارئ كان له تأثيره، وهو مزاج قد يتغير بعد فترة تطول أو تقصر، وكثيرون يتهموننى بأنى صاحب مزاج متقلب. لكنه على أية حال مزاج كاتب يحب كتابة وقراءة القصص والروايات!
