في مجموعته الشعرية المعنونة "دماء الثلج" يتحرك الشاعر أحمد قران الزهراني عبر جهاز لغوي مغاير للمألوف، وبلغة تتميز بالتكثيف والإيحاء القائم على إستخدام كلي للمجاز، وإذ نحن إزاء لغة خطاب عالية ناضجة تتوزع في مستويات دلالية متعددة، هذا الخلق الفني يؤسس له بنى تراكمية تتداخل فيها الرؤى الشعرية التي يسجل فيها الشاعر ويستنطق حركة الأشياء والموجودات وذلك عندما يدخلها مختبره الحسي، والمرئي ويبرزها في النص في سلسلة أفكار حلمية وإنفعالية تراكمية.
في القصيدة التي اتخذ الشاعر منها عنواناً للمجموعة "دماء الثلج" نقرأ: "هزي إليك بجذع الآه وابتهكي... في هيكلي ثم قدُي الأرض من قبلي"... "ثم ازرعي من شراييني وأوردتي... شمساً وخيطي كما الصحراء من حللي"... "ثم انسجي من خيوط الفجر أفئدة... بيضاء مشرعةً تنجو من الزلل"... "وأوقدي حطب الأيام في حدقي... ثم أحملي من رمادٍ العمر واشتعلي"..."شتان بين السراب الحلم فاتنتي... وبين ماء الحياة العذب من وشلي".
يضم الكتاب قصائد متنوعة الثيمات والأغراض الشعرية جاءت على بحور الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى حيناً، وعلى خطى الشعر العربي الحديث حيناً أخرى، وكذلك قصيدة النثر نذكر من العناوين: "سراب الكهوف"، "دماء الثلج"، "أقنعة من يباب"، "خناجر الصمت"، "وجه"، على جبين... "امرأة"، "غياهب الظمأ"، "تناءى في ذاته".... وعناوين أخرى.
