يعد هذا الكتاب موسوعة تاريخية نادرة تخصصت بتتبع تاريخ وأحداث مجموعة مميزة من القبائل العربية النازحة من اليمن، وبعض القبائل القيسية المنضمة إليها، تحت اسم [حلف تنوخ] حيث عقد هذا الحلف على عين هجر في البحرين، فتحالفوا على [الخير والشر والدم والثأر] وجرى هذا التحالف بأيام ملوك الطوائف الفارسية في العراق بعد أن غزاهم الإسكندر المقدوني وقتل مليكهم [دارا بن يهمن] وفرق شملهم، جاء الكتاب في خمسة أبواب وعشرة فصول:
- الفصل الأول: ينص على ممالك الأزد في عمان، وتنوخ ولخم في العراق، والغساسنة في بلاد الشام.
- الفصل الثاني: ينص على تواجه العشائر التنوخية في عصر الخلفاء الراشدين والأمويين والعباسيين ونزوحاتهم المتتالية إلى بلاد الشام.
- الفصل الثالث: ينص على أحداث العهد الفاطمي بمصر والشام والحجاز والجزيرة.
- الفصل الرابع: ينص على العصرين، السلجوقي والزنكي.
- الفصل الخامس: ينص على العصرين الأيوبي والمملوكي.
- الفصل السادس: ينص على أحداث الإمارة المعنية في مطلع العهد العثماني.
- الفصل السابع: ينص على أحداث الإمارة الشهابية أيام [الوزير أحمد الجزار].
- الفصل الثامن: ينص على أحداث الإمارة الشهابية أيام [الوزير عبد الله باشا].
- الفصل التاسع: ينص على أحداث الإمارة الشهابية أيام [إبراهيم المصري].
- الفصل العاشر: ينص على أحداث الإمارة الشهابية بعد عودة الحكم التركي إلى بلاد الشام وأحداثها المشؤومة منذ عام /1840- 1860/.
يعد الكتاب من أهم المراجع في تاريخ القبائل العربية كما ويوضح تأثير الدعوة الفاطمية ومفاعيل نشوء وإنتشار مذهب التوحيد بين هذه القبائل.
