يعتبر متن الغاية والتقريب (أو أبي شجاع) من أكثر متون الفقه الشافعي تداولاً وأهمها، وقد اعتني بشرحه من قبل العلماء، كما اعتني بالتحشية على شروحه، ومن أهم شروحه كتابنا هذا (الإقناع) لعالم من متأخرى الشافعية هو الخطيب القزوينى جاء شرحه أقرب إلى الطول، إذ يعرف الكتاب ثم يحلل الألفاظ شرحاً وضبطاً كما يبين مرجع الضمير في المتن، ويذكر معتمد المسألة من كتاب أو سنة معزوة إلى مخرجها غالباً. والكتاب غني أيضا بالتنبيهات والفوائد والفروع التى ظهرت فيها قوة ملكة الشربينى الفقهية، وظهر فيها قرب عهده بنا، حيث ورد في الكتاب مسائل قد تسمى معاصرة أو تتخرج عليها، والكتاب شامل لأبواب الفقه من العبادات والمعاملات والجنايات والفرائض.
وقد قمنا بمقابلة النص بالمخطوط، وتخريج الأحاديث وبعض الآثار، وترجمة لبعض الأعلام والأماكن إن لزم الأمر، كذلك شرح لبعض غريب الكلام، وهذا جهد المقل.
