يحكي لنا السعودي تفاصيل رحلته الثانية إلى الديار المقدسة، برفقة إبراهيم رفعت باشا؛ أمير الحج المسؤول عن قافلة الحج المصرية آنذاك، وتجمع حكايات اليوميات أفكار المسلم الورع، والتفاصيل المتعلقة بالمخاطر الصحية، وتلك الأخطار التي واجهها الحجاج في رحلتهم البرية، والمصاعب المرتبطة بعملية التقاط الصور الفوتوغرافية ذاتها.
ولقد قام المؤلفان بإختزال اليوميات وتقديمها في صورة سردية مدعمة بإقتباسات اختيرت بعناية، وصور فوتوغرافية نادرة التقطها السعودي بنفسه.
