يسعدني أن أقدم للطبعة الثانية من هذا الكتاب: "النقود الإسلامية وأهميتها في دراسة التاريخ والآثار والحضارة الإسلامية"، والذي لاقت الطبعة الأولى منه رواجًا كبيرًا، ونفذت خلال أقل من عامين فقط، وإن دل ذلك فإنه يدل على مدى أهمية الكتاب في مجال دراسة التاريخ والآثار والحضارة الإسلامية، فضلًا عن ارتباطه بالعديد من العلوم الأخرى مثل الفقه والمذاهب الدينية والفرق الإسلامية، واللغة العربية، والخطوط العربية، واللغات غير العربية، وعلوم الرياضة والفلك، والجغرافيا، والاقتصاد الإسلامي، وغيرها.
وقد رأيت أن الأمانة العلمية تقتضي أن أضيف العديد من المعلومات المهمة إلى موضوع الكتاب حتى تكون طبعة مزيدة ومنقحة، يجد فيها الباحثون الجديد من المعلومات التي توافرت لدى خلال الأعوام الماضية بعد صدور الطبعة الأولى منه، ويتجلى ذلك بوضوح في دراستنا لرموز الأرقام والتواريخ، والتي تم تغيير كل المادة العلمية الخاصة بها وعرضها بشكل جديد.
