تتناول الدراسة موضوعاً قلما تناولته أقلام المؤرخين في صورته الكاملة، وإن كان البعض تناوله في بعض جوانبه، ألا وهو موضوع "الحشاشون"، لقد تناولت الدراسة هذا الموضوع ككيان سياسي قام على أساس ديني مذهبي في إحدى قلاع بلاد فارس عرفت بقلعة "الموت"؛ هذا الكيان أو تلك الطائفة من الشيعة أسسها حسن الصباح للقضاء على سلطان السنة من عباسية وغيرها، وراحت تنشر الفوضى وتبث الذعر وتشيع الإرهاب عن طريق القتل والإغتيال حتى يستطيعوا تأسيس دولتهم، وهذا يصل بنا إلى دراسة هذه الطائفة، وتحديد هويتها وأثرها على المجتمعين الإسلامي والصليبي في بلاد الشام ومصر بصفة خاصة والدولة الإسلامية على وجه العموم.
وعلى هذا قمنا بتقسيم الكتاب إلى فصول أربعة بخلاف المقدمة والخاتمة وقائمة المصادر والمراجع التي اعتمدنا عليها للخروج بهذه الدراسة إلى النور، فجاء الفصل الأول وعنوانه "الحشيشة نظامها وتطورها"، أما الفصل الثاني الحشاشون والمسلمون، الفصل الثالث الحشاشون والصليبيون، الفصل الرابع الحشاشون الأمس واليوم.
