الرحلة اليمانية كتاب بيت فيه الشريف "شرف بن عبد المحسن البركاتي" خبر "الثورة اليمانية" التي أجج نارها "الإدريسي" وأطفأها الشريف حسين باشا أمير مكة المكرمة، حيث تصور هذه الرحلة تلك المعمعة التي وقعت في البلاد العربية في تلك الحقبة، فتحرك ما ركد من تاريخ لذلك العصر المجهول الذي لفه التعتيم، وأصبحت أخباره تشبه أخبار الجاهلية.
مؤلف كتاب "الرحلة اليمانية" هو الشريف شرف بن عبد المحسن الحسني، الذي رافق الشريف حسين في حربه ضد الإدريسي، وأرخ لتلك الحقبة المهمة من تاريخ جزيرة العرب، ووصف المعالم والمعارك.
وقد اطلع على الكتاب المؤرخ المدقق عاتق بن غيث البلادي، فأعجب بما حواه، بعد أن لف النسيان معظم المواقع التي يتحدث عنها، فعزم على تحقيقه وتنقيحه وتحديثه.
ولتحقيق ذلك على أفضل وجه اعتمد النسخة المطبوعة، ودراسة ميدانية للمنطقة موضوع الكتاب قام بها بنفسه، فهو رحالة بحاثة له مؤلفات عدة تتحدث عن معالم الحجاز وجزيرة العرب.
وقد وضع النص الأصلي في أعلى الصفحة، وشرح بعده ما ذكره المؤلف، ثم علق في أسفل الصفحة على النص الأصلي بما رآه مناسباً ومفيداً.
وبذلك قدم للمكتبة العربية مرجعاً مهماً لكل مؤرخ مهتم بجزيرة العرب.
