إن الله سبحانه وتعالى أمرنا بذكره، وأثنى على الذاكرين ووعدهم أجراً عظيماً، فأمر بذكره مطلقاً، وبعد الفراغ من العبادات، وأمر بذكره أثناء أداء مناسك الحج، وشرع إقامة الصلاة لذكره.
ولما كان أفضل الذكر: (لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له)، كما ورد عن النبي "صلى الله عليه وسلم" أنه قال: "خير الدعاء دعاء عرفة، وخير ما قلت أنا والنبيون من قبلي: لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير"، ولما كانت هذه الكلمة العظيمة "لا إله إلا الله) لها هذه المنزلة العالية من بين أنواع الذكر ويتعلق بها أحكام، ولها شروط، ولها معنى ومقتضى، فليست كلمة تقال باللسان فقط، لما كان الأمر كذلك آثرت أن تكون موضوع حديثي، راجياً من الله تعالى أن يجعلنا وأياكم من أهلها المتمسكين بها، والعارفين لمعناها، العاملين بمقتضاها ظاهراً وباطناً.
