لم أعرف الوقت تحديداً... كنه يبتعد قليلاً عن منتصف الليل، في ليلة من ليالي القرية الشتوية، عندما طرقت ابنة جارتنا الطرقات الثلاثة، التي تشبه الإستغاثة، هرولت أمي مسرعة إليها.. تحدثتا بكلام خافت، لم أكد أتبينه، لكثرة ما يغالبني من النعاس.. خرجت أمي مسرعة، رفعت صوتي فيما يشبه البكاء، كنت أحتاج إلى دفء حضنها هذه الليلة، أخذتني من يدي.. ونحن نمر، سمعنا من الشباك المطل على الشارع تأوهات وتوجعات... الصوت يرتفع قليلاً، ثم ينخفض.. أصوات متداخلة.. دلفت أمي إلى تلك الحجرة، أغلقت الباب، لعلها نسيتني، أم لم تكن تعبأ بوجود طفل معها...
