هى قصائد تبرز ما يجيش فى نفوس أصحابها من مشاعر الحب والولاء والشوق الصادق تجاه الحضرة النبوية الشريفة وآل البيت الأظهار وقربى لله ولرسوله ولآل بيته والمدائح النبوية فن أدبى قائم بذاته له خصائص ينفرد بها عن فن الميح فى شعر العربى ، فكلاهما يعدد من شمائل الممدوح وصفاته النبيلة ويرفع ذكره إلا أن المديح لا يكون لممدوح حى يكافى مادحة من عرض الدنيا لقاء مدحه اياه بينما المدائح الحقة هى ما قيل بعد وفاته - صلى الله عليه وسلم - ولاتسمى ( مراثي ) استشعارا بأن المخاطب بها ( رسول الله ) موصول بالحياه .
