يستعرض المؤلِّف في كتابه هذا العديد من أمثلة مصائر المغرورين والمتكبِّرين الذي قصَّ علينا القرآن الكريم قصصهم وتناول سيرهم وعقاب الله تعالى لهم على عنادهم وعصيانهم وتكبُّرهم.
وقد تناول في البداية قصة إبليس أول المغرورين والمتكبِّرين، وهو مثال للمتكبِّرين والعصاة، الذين عصوا أمر ربِّهم حين أمر الله عزَّ وجلَّ الملائكة بالسجود لآدم عليه السلام؛ ولتكبِّره وعناده رَفَضَ السجود.
وقصَّ علينا القرآن الكريم أيضاً حال من اغترَّ بماله وبزينة الحياة الدنيا، وظنَّ أنه يفعل بماله كل شيء؛ فينسى الله عزَّ وجلَّ الوهَّاب، ويُعْرِض عن ذكره سبحانه وتعالى وعن طاعته.
كما قصَّ القرآن الكريم علينا نهاية فرعون والذي كانت نهايته ونهاية عصيانه وتكبُّره أنَّ أخذه الله سبحانه وتعالى أخذَ عزيز مقتدر، وأهلكه وجنوده؛ كما تناول عدداً آخر من المتكبِّرين والطُّغاة والعُصاة مثل: النَّمرود، والسَّامري، وأبي لهب، والوليد بن المغيرة، وأبي جهل.
وتناول كذلك بعض الأقوام - الذين جاء ذكرهم في القرآن الكريم - الذين عصوا الله تعالى فأنزل عليهم غضبه.
وقصصُ العُصاة المتكبِّرين المغرورين الكافرين تشغل حيِّزاً كبيراً في القرآن الكريم، لذلك ينبغي أن نتأمَّلها ونتفكَّر فيها ونتدبَّرها.
