تنظم القراءة المبثوثة في هذا الكتاب إلى ركب جماليات الإنتاج، وبقدر ما تسعى إلى الكشف عن الأسس جمالية لواحدة من أهم الأِشكال الأدبية المعاصرة ألا وهي القصة القصيرة، فإنها لا تبغي التوسع أو إعادة القول فيما طرح من مفاهيم نقدية حول هذه الموضوعة من قبل نقاد وتيارات مختلفة رغم نزرة الطروحات في هذا المجال وافتقار المتن النقدي التنظيري للقصة القصيرة مثلما حظي به المتن النقدي الروائي من كثافة في الكم والكيف من الدراسات الكثيرة والمتعددة.
وستحاول هذه القراءة النظر والكشف عن القصة القصيرة من زاوية نظر مختلفة وأكثر خصوصية مبتعدة عن الشكل العام إلى النص الخاص ومن منظور آخر يمد مجساته لتلمس تجليات الجمال من خلال التقنيات المستخدمة في النص. متخذاً من المجموعة القصصية (في 45 درجة مئوية) للقاص العراقي (محمد خضير) نموذجاً ومثالاً تطبيقاً وقعت عليه عدسة المنظور، وربما أن الدخول إلى البيت لا يكون إلا عن طريق الباب وليس عبر النافذة أو التسلق إلى السطح، فإن مقدمة هذا الكتاب قد تطرقت إلى أبواب الجماليات القصيرة في ملامحها العامة.
