يتكون هذا الكتاب من جزأين يختص الجزء الأول بالجانب الإنساني لتلك الشخصية المحيرة" كيركجور " وتبدأ الحيرة من كونه فيلسوف أم لا؟ وإن لم يكن هكذا فماذا يكون؟ ثم يتحدث عن نشأته ومؤلفاته . أما عن المرأة فى حياته فحدث ولأحرج لا يعرف لمن يبدأ وكيف يبدأ ولماذا يبدأ في علاقة مع إمرأة؟ ولكن المرأة التى ملكت فؤاده ومشاعره وتحدث عنها في كثيرمن أوراقه هى ( ريجينا) التى إذا ما قرأت ماكتبه عنها ستصاب بالحيرة والدهشة وأحيانا الغباء أمام افعاله المبهمة غير الواضحة ... في الجزء الأخير من الكتاب يتم عرض بعض النصوص المختارة له كأراء عن المرأة أو الحياة عموما وسترى أمامك شخصية تقطر بتعاسة ومع ذلك فهى ساخرة إلى أقصى حد مثل رأيه فى المراة " ثق فى المرأة وسوف تندم ، لا تثق فيها وسوف تندم أيضا وسواء عليك وثقت فى المراة أم لم تثق فيها فسوف تندم فى الحالتين. وهكذا على هذا المنوال ستعرف أشياء كثيرة إذا فعلتها سوف تندم وإن لم تفعلها سوف تندم أيضا. ولكنننا نخالفه الرأى في حالة واحدة هى أنك إذا لم تقرأ هذا الكتاب فسوف تندم أما إذا قرأته فلن تندم! أما الجزء الثاني من الكتاب فقد إختص بفلسفته ، وقد بدأها بمفهومه عن فلسفة الذات ثم التكوين الانطولوجي للذات وقد قارن بينه وبين هيجل في هذا الجانب أما التطور الجدلي للذات فقد تناوله مراحله الحسية الجمالية والأخلاقية والدينية ويتبعه بدراسة لأمراض الذات من يأس وخطيئة في فلسفة كيرجكور.
