البحر المديد في تفسير القرآن المجيد هو تفسير للإمام العالم العلامة أبي العباس أحمد بن محمد بن عجيبة المتوفى سنة 1224هـ. وقد سبقوه، فهم 1-تفسير أنوار التنزيل للبيضاوي. 2-تفسير أبي السعود. 3-تفسير المحور الوحيد لابن عطية.4-تفسير القلبي.5-تفسير النسفي.6- تفسير ابن جزي الأندلسي.7-حاشية السيوفي على تفسير البيضاوي، المسمى "نواهد الأبكار وشواهد الأفكار". 8-حاشية أبي زيد الفاسي على تفسير الجلالين.
أما منهج الإمام ابن عتيبة في تفسيره فقد اعتمد الخطوات التالية: يبدأ في تفسير السورة بيان مكان نزولها ( مكيّة أو مدنيّة)، وعدد آياتها والاختلاف في ذلك. ثم يذكر مناسبة السورة لما قبلها، وسبب نزولها وفضائلها، ومضمونها الإجمالي، ليشرع بعدها في تفسير الآيات معتمداً المنهجية التالية: تفسير القرآن بالقرآن، ذكر القراءات المختلفة في الآية، الاعتماد على السنة الشريفة والآثار في تفسيره للآية، العناية بالتفسير اللغوي والنحوي وبالإعراب، والعناية كذلك بشرح معنى المفردات القرآنية، والاستشهاد بالفقه، العناية بالأحكام الفقهية، إذا مر بآيات الأحكام، وينقل رأي أئمة المذاهب الأربعة فيها، وخصوصاً رأي فإمام مالك. وجاء الكتاب محققاً كالتالي: تخريج الآيات القرآنية بإرجاعها إلى سورها وأرقامها، مقارنة النصوص مع مصادرها الأصلية التي نقل عنها المؤلف، خصوصاً تفاسير البيضاوي وابن جزي الكلبي والقشيري، شرح ما في متن الكتاب من غريب اللغة، تخريج الأحاديث النبوية والآثار والشواهد النبوية، وضع ترجمة وافية لأهم الأعلام.
كتاب عظيم في تفسير القرآن الكريم، وهو كتاب جامع لاعتماد مؤلفه على كتب كثير من المؤلفين السابقين كالبيضاوي، وأبي السعود، والثعلبي والنفسي وغيرهم. وترجع اهمية الكتاب أيضاً إلى طريقة شرحه للسور : حيث يبدأ ببيان مكان نزول السورة، ثم يذكر مناسبة السورة لما قبلها ، وفضائلها ومضمونها الإجمالي، ثم يشرع في تفسير الآيات الذي اعتمد فيه على:تفسير القرآن بالقرآن، ذكر القراءات المختلفة في الآية،الاعتماد على السنة الشريفة والآثار في تفسيره للآية-العناية بالتفسيرات اللغوية والنحو وبالاعراب، العناية بالاحكام الفقهية، التفسير الاشاري
