أول رواية عربية تدور أحداثها في عالم كرة القدم لم يسعَ يوسف لأكثر من إيجاد وظيفة في إحدى دول الخليج، لكنّه لم يكن يدرك أن حياته ستنقلب تمامًا بعدما يلتقي بإيمليانو، الذي حاول إقناعه بالسفر إلى ألمانيا ليعمل مراسلًا في أحد المواقع الإخبارية، وهناك يكتشف يوسف أن إيميليانو يُخفي العديد من المفاجآت. وهكذا يجد يوسف نفسه متورطًا في مغامرة لم يخطّط لها، مغامرة سيتنقّل خلالها عبر أكثر من مائة وخمسين عامًا من تاريخ كرة القدم، وعندها سيدرك أن الجميع يحب كرة القدم، ولكن كرة القدم تُعطي أسرارها لعدد قليل من البشر، ورغم أنه كان يظن أنها لعبة يسهل الحديث عنها؛ إلا أنه عرف لاحقًا أن الحقيقة غير ذلك.
