في كتابه هذا ، يعيد الكاتب المصري محبّ جميل البريق لواحدة من مطربات الزمن الجميل في مصر وبلاد الشام إنها (فتحية أحمد) الملقبة بمطربة القرنين (مصر والشام) المطربة التي لمعت في عشرينيات القرن الماضي، ونافست منيرة المهدية وأم كلثوم على عرش الغناء العربي، وتزعمته لفترة قصيرة، ثم راحت تتراجع تدريجياً، قبل أن تدخل في دائرة، لتصبح صوتاً من أصوات الماضي.
وبناءً على ما تقدم يشكل هذا الكتاب سيرة موثقة وشاملة عن حياة فتحية أحمد مع الإشارة "إلى أنّ الكتاب يتصدى لحياة فتحية أحمد الفنية بما لها وما عليها، فليس الهدف هنا تسليط الضوء على حياتها الشخصية، بقدر ما هو الإحاطة بحياتها الفنية التي امتدت إلى ما يقرب من نصف قرن".
ولمزيد من التفاصيل اهتم الكاتب في تدوين مادة الكتاب على ما توافر من أحاديث للمطربة في الصحف والمجلات الفنية وكذلك الإذاعية للفترة (1918-1975) إلى جانب الإستماع إلى جميع ما أتيح له من تسجيلات تجارية أو إذاعية في محاولة لرسم خط بياني واضح لصوتها، ومسيرتها الغنائية، إضافة إلى عدد كبير من الصور الشخصية التي كانت قد جمعتها بشخصيات أدبية وفنية خلال حياتها، والغاية تقديم صورة صافية عن مطربة كان يكنُّ كل المودة والتقدير لأصدقاء وصديقات الوسط الفني، إلا أن ظروفاً يعزوها الكاتب إلى الإهتمام بمنزلها وأولادها وزيجاتها المتعددة، إلى جانب السفر المتكرر ساهم في انقطاعها عن الحياة الفنية، من هنا كان لا بد من التذكير بمطربة القطرين ومكانتها التي حازت عليها في الوسط الغنائي العربي بشهادة أهم فناني عصرها، وكذلك الملحنون أمثال إبراهيم فوزي وعبد الحمولي وآخرون.
