جنكيز أيتماتوف (12 ديسمبر 1928 - 10 يونيو 2008)، أديب قرغيزي (سوفيتي سابقًا). حاز على جائزتي لينين والدولة، له العديد من الروايات والقصص، من رواياته : جميلة، المعلم الأول، ويطول اليوم أكثر من قرن، طريق الحصاد، النطع، السفينة البيضاء، ووداعا ياغولساري، الغرانيق المبكرة، شجيرتي في منديل أحمر، عندما تتداعى الجبال، العروس الخالدة، طفولة في قرغيزيا، نمر الثلج، الكلب الأبلق الراكض على حافة البحر.
اهتم في رواياته بالجانب الروحي والنفسي للإنسان، كما تبرز في عدد من رواياته اهتمامه الشديد بالبيئة والطبيعة، حفلت رواياته بالكثير من الأطراء والتقدير. أنتج فيلم سينمائي مأخوذ من رواية جميلة.
عمل سفيرًا للجمهورية القرغيزية في بلجيكا، الإتحاد الأوروبي، حلف الناتو واليونيسكو. إعدام والده في عام 1937 في موسكو، مما إضطره للعمل باكرًا من عمر 14 عام.

Book Description
تدور قصة (المعلم الأول) حول معلم شاب يكافح لنبذ العادات والتقاليد البالية في آسيا الوسطى السوفييتية، استقبل قراء الكاتب العالمي (آيتماتوف) هذا العمل بترحاب عظيم لما وجدوه فيه من أخلاق رفيعة للمعلم الذي ضحى بكل ما يملك من سعادة من أجل مساعدة التلاميذ، وخاصة الفتيات اللواتي حرمن من التعليم بسبب بعض العادات الموروثة، وقد ساهم هذا الكتاب في حينه في أن دخلت الأنثى إلى المدارس وحصلت على مراتب علمية عالية في نقلة مهمة من نقلات التنوير في تلك المجتمعات...
ذكر مترجم العمل أنه وفي لقائه الأول بالكاتب (أيتماتوف) وذلك في إحتفال كبير بمناسبة صدور رواية (النطع) في عام 1974، قد وعد الكاتب بترجمة أعماله إلى اللغة العربية من اللغة الروسية مباشرة دون لغات وسيطة للحفاظ على روح العمل وها هو يفي بوعده بعد صدور الجزء الأكبر من أعمال (آيتماتوف) باللغة العربية وبترجمة الدكتور ماجد علاء الدين.
