إذا كان العنوان عتبة الدخول الأولى إلى النص/المُعنْوَن، وهو سمة الكتاب أو النص أو وسمٌ له، وعلامة عليه تشير أو توحي أو ترمز إلى مقصديته؛ فهو بمعنى ما يخبرنا بشيء أو عنه، فكأنه بهذا المعنى رسالة يتبادلها كاتب وقارىء، فإن هذا العنوان المختار للتعبير عما أردْت قوله في الكتاب بشقيه: الرئيسي والفرعي، يصدق على ما أردت الذهاب إليه؛ فقد جعلت العنوان الرئيس معبِّراً عن الموت، وجعلت الرحلة عنواناً موازياً للحياة؛ لأن النتيجة النهائية للنظرية النقدية في متراكمها المعرفي، هي الارتحال. أما موت النظرية فهو عارض، بمعنى ما "مؤقت" أو "مرحلة" من مراحل امتداد الحياة؛ لأنها تموت كنظرية محدودة حين يتمُّ تجاوز تصوّراتها، أو حين تصل أدواتها المعرفية إلى ذُروتها المعرفية، ولكنها تعود لتحيا في المجموع النقدي التراكمي، أو في (النظر النقدي). هكذا يغدو موت النظرية النقدية محطة من محطات طويلة تتوجها حياة الكل النقدي. ومن ثمّ فالعنوان، هنا، قُصد منه دعوة القارئ للتفكير والتأمل في إشكالية النظرية النقدية وتحوّلاتها؛ الإشكالية بمعنى السؤال عن مصير النظرية، وهو سؤال لا ينتظر جواباً شافياً، فهو موضوع جدليٌّ أزليٌّ، يدعو القارئ للتأمل والحوار في هذه الإشكالية قبل الإسراع إلى رفضها؛ فالنظرية في الوقت الذي تغيب فيه متصوّراتها تصبح جزءاً من الموسوعة النقدية العامة، وبخاصة الموسوعة الإجرائية.
