الأهم أنني تذكرت قضية حسين الساعاتي. الذى اتصلت أمه من الصعيد. ترجو سعادة اللواء مديري أن ينظر في أمر صغيرها الشاب الذي التقفته أيادي باطشة لا ترحم. ظانة تلك المسكينة أن سعادته يستطيع، أو حتى يرغب مجرد الرغبة في التحدث مع أحدهم، لإقناعة بعتق معتقل غض العود من أجل عيون أم مكلومة أحالها عليّ راجياً أن أخلصه من إزعاجها- وبعدها استمعت لشكواها المنقوشة بالدموع. والتي امتلأت وصفاً عذباً حانياً لهذا السجين الشاب شل لساني ولم أستطع أن أصرح لها بحقيقة عجزنا عن إثارة موضوع كهذاء مع الحكومة. وعدتها بالطبع أن أرسل الشكوى للجهات المسئولة تلك الجهات التي كنت أجهل أين هي.
لم يغفل لي جفن. ظللت متيقظاً طوال الليل وتمنيت أن أرى الرجل. وأن أحدثه فيما قد أكون نسيته ومرت الأيام- لكن لم يظهر له أي أثر. لم يأت للمقهى- سألت عنه صبي المقهى فأعاد خبط الماشة في رأسه.
