الدعاء سلاح المؤمن، وعماد الدين ونور السماوات والأرض وواحد من أسس العبادة الحقة، ومقام العبودية لله تعالى: وذلك لأن العبد كلما مرت به ضائقة ولجأ إلى الله في تبتل وضراعة وخشوع جسد حقيقة العبودية لله تعالى، ومن ثم يصبح أهى لاستجابة الله سبحانه وتعالى لدعائه، كما حدث لاستجابة الله لدعاء أنبيائه جميعاً.
ويعد الدعاء من أقوى الأسباب في دفع المكروه وحصول المطلوب وعلاج البلاء ورد القدر، ولا يقبل المولى- جل وعلا- دعاء من قلب غافل لاهٍ، وكذلك أكل الحرام يبطل قوة الدعاء، مصداقاً لقول (صلى الله عليه وسلم) "أطب مطعمك تكن مستجاب الدعاء" صدق رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم)
وللأنبياء ابتداء من آدم عليه السلام وانتهاء بأكرم خلق الله محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم) أدعية وردت في بعض آيات القرآن الكريم أكرمهم الله بإجابتها، وحلفت في ثناياها بالعديد من العبر والعظات النافعة والتي تعد منهلاً عذباً للمؤمنين العاملين بكتاب الله وسنة نبيه محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
