هذا الكتاب هو بحث قامت به الدكتورة( إلهام عبد الرحمن) حول تأثير التليفزيون وبرامج المختلفة على قيم المجتمع السودانى. وقد قسمت دراستها إلى قسمين الأول منها نظرى يحتوى على التاصيل التاريخي لوسائل الإعلام، التعريف بالاتصال وأساليبه ونظرياته، مجالات التأثير للاعلام الجماهيرى وقدرة وسائل الاتصال على علمية التغيير الإجتماعية وخلق مناخ التحديث.. كذلك الدور الذى تؤدية الثقافة الأصيلة فى مواجهة هذا البث والمد كرد فعل مصادر وأخيراً أثر البرامج المستوردة سواء كانت عربية أو غير عربية. أما الجزء الثانى من الكتاب فيحتوى على الدراسة الميدانية التى قامت بها الباحثة من خلال دراسة البث التليفزيونى وفرض بعض الفروض التى تاحول الباحثة افجابة عليها من خلالها دارستها.
