هذا الكتاب محاولة متواضعة أردت من خلاله أن ألفت الإنتباه إلى ما يزخر به مجتمعنا من عادات إجتماعية وقيم ومثل نبيلة، وما في هذه العادات والتقاليد من ثراء وتنوع، وقد جَمَعْتُ مادته من معايشات ومشاهدات وحوارات وأحاديث، جرت في رحلة قمت بها أنا ورفاق الراحلة من دثينة إلى عدن، وقد دونتها في عدة محطات توقفنا فيها، وصفته في قالب حواري يجمع بين اللغة الفصحى واللهجة المحلية، وقد قمت في هذا الكتاب بإلقاء الضوء على الزواج وعاداته والزراعة وأعمالها من فلاحة وبذر وحصاد، وعلى عمليات البناء، وروح التعاون السائدة بين الناس من خلال ما أعرفه وخَبِرْتُه، وما استطعت أن أجمعه من أفواه الناس في جمهورية دثينة.
