وهذا الكتاب الفريد في تصنيفه وتبويبه، يدلُّ على رُسُوخ قَدَم مُؤلِّفه رحمه الله تعالى في العلم، وسَعَة معرفته وإطلاعه، بحيث أظهر في منهجيّة كتابه قُدرة على تصنيف مفردات مادة الكتاب، وفقه التبويب للأحاديث التي ضمّنها كتابه.
وقد شابه رحمه الله تعالى في عمله المتميِّز هذا، الإمام البخاري رحمه الله تعالى، حيث إنه يُورِد في كل باب ما يَشْهَدُ من لفظ الحديث.
وقد بيَّنِ المؤلِّف رحمه الله تعالى في مقدمته أنه لم يقصد إلى كتاب ألِّف فيهتدمه وينتحله، بل قصد التمييز والتفرّد بذكر الروايات، وبراعة التصنيف، وقد وُفِّق وأجاد رحمه الله تعالى رحمة واسعة، مما جعل ما يُوردُه غيره عنه مَعْزُوّاً إليه، مُكتَفيِّاً بذِكر تخريجه له في هذا الكتاب.
